An Analysis of the Usage of P66 and P75 in the Gospel of John 1-12

The aim of this paper is to analyze the usage and characteristics of P66 and P75 in the Gospel of John 1-12. The two papyri well preserve John 1-12, so-called ‘the book of signs.’ If the scope of this paper extends to the whole Gospel of John, it would be impossible to cover it in the limited pages. To reach the aim, this paper follows the steps: (1) historical survey of the relationship among P66 and P75 and B, (2) the variants readings which are supported by P66 and P75 in John 1-12, (3) an analysis of the usage of P66 and P75 whether it is consistent with ? and B or with the majority text, (4) an analysis of the differences between the original text and revised texts of P66 and P75, finally (5) consistence, similarity, dissimilarity between P66과 P75. In conclusion, this paper demonstrates that these two papyri include the Alexandrian texts and the ancestral form of the Majority text in John 1-12 in a mixed fashion. And these two papyri support only Alexandrian texts in a high rate. But the possibility of categorizing these two papyri to an independent text group is relatively low.
