This study aims to measure the ethical consciousness of university students on AI(artificial intelligence) and to explore its demand in education. Explored in this study are a total of seven ethics of AI, namely, accountability, safety and reliability, fairness, transparency and explainability, employment, permit and limit, and robot rights. Results show that among the university students' AI ethics, the categories transparency and explainability and employment were high, whereas fairness as well as safety and reliability were low. The study also explores the demand for AI ethics education. Results suggest a demand accordingly in major education, liberal arts education, and non-subject programs; meanwhile, course intention and program participation intention have generated similar results. Therefore, these results strongly support the necessity for AI ethics education in universities as a major course and its urgent implementation. Furthermore, the promotion and training for knowledge necessary to live in a society where artificial intelligence is predominant should be similarly provided to non-majors. Additional research should likewise be conducted specifically focusing on the development of educational models and teaching-learning materials for AI ethics education at universities.
