Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of alexithymia and academic stress on the academic concentration of nursing students. Methods: The study subjects were 199 nursing students in the 1st to 4th grade of a university nursing department located in Chung-buk. Data were collected from September 25th to October 18th, 2020. Alexithymia, academic stress, and academic concentration were measured. Data analysis was performed using a t-test, ANOVA, Duncan's test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. Results: Alexithymia showed a statistically significant positive correlation with academic stress (r=.39, p<.001), and a negative correlation with academic concentration (r=-.32, p<.001). Academic stress was found to have a statistically significant negative correlation with academic concentration (r=-.43, p<.001). The results of the multiple regression analysis showed that the significant factors affecting academic concentration were academic stress (β=-.31, p<.001), major satisfaction (β=-.18, p=.001), and motivation to apply for nursing (β=-.28, p=.006) explaining 36% of the variance (F=11.56, p<.001). Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop and implement various programs such as peer counseling clubs and mentoring to reduce the inability to express one's emotions and maintain a smooth school life and friendships.
