Conversion is defined as personal and social transformation toward the reign of God and influenced by an interplay of identity, politics and morality. The Great Awakening Movement of 1907 showed us the formation of the Korean church archetype (identity) and the transformation of Korean Christians as fruits of conversion (morality). The March 1st Independence Movement of 1919 showed us that the participation of church leaders in the independence movement (politics) was originated by the works of the Holy Spirit. After the movement, the gap between the ecumenical group and the evangelical group became wider. It is possible for reconciliation between these two groups only when we regard the Holy Spirit as the healer of the people and the transformer of the society, emphasize mysticism and resistance as the works of the Holy Spirit, and depend upon the spirituality of poverty, weakness, and our covenantal relationship with God.
