『Amewokattara Takoyaro Banashi』 is one of ten Kibyoshi works published in 1801 by Kyokutei Bakin. This work can be said to be one of the most well represented works of the academic and historical style among Bakin's Kibyoshi. It contains various episodes and lessons about kites embroidering the New Year's sky in Edo, and the most distinctive feature of this work is that it appropriately utilizes Mitate, one of the techniques of expression in Japanese literature. This work compares a person's life to a kite and introduces various types of life and kites that fit them. The ten episodes that make up the work are collections of independent short stories. The whole work is consistent with the theme of ‘life and kite’, so it can be said that it has an interesting composition in that it is possible to examine ten kinds of lives and ten kinds of kites. The reader was able to learn life lessons one by one through these episodes based on familiar kites that can be seen around them. It seems that Bakin's purpose of thoroughly setting the title and composition of the content, which is supposed to teach a lesson to children, was conveyed well enough to the readers through this work. It is self evident that Bakin had an attitude to edify readers by inserting a lesson into his work, and even though it was the general atmosphere of the literary world at the time, he had a stronger tendency than other writers. This work has great significance in that the creative characteristic of inserting a lesson in the work, which Bakin preferred throughout his life, can also be found in 『Takoyaro Banashi』.
