The main objective of this research is to explore factors that influence on reducing accident rate which means that organizational learning has occurred. As part of strategic decision, most of the airlines decide to code share their flights through agreements to pursue economic benefits. Airlines would not only generate a number of mutual economic benefit through code sharing but also mutual liability persist. When code sharing agreements are done, liabilities for compensation to passengers are shared when an accident evoke. Code shared members are more likely to pay attention to and learn from code shared carrier’s accidents as liabilities shared which leads to lowering future accident. This research has proposed that the greater mutual liability of code shared members, lower the firm’s subsequent error rate. As moderating effect, this research has proposed that internal attribution of accident cause moderates the relationship between mutual liability of code shared members and the accident rate. This research contributes to literatures on learning from failure by proposing new influencing factors. The proposition offered are applicable to the field of hotel chains, construction companies, automobile companies, shipping companies, and online plate form companies as long as mutual liability persist.
