This paper attempts to understand the social and cultural trends of the Yeongnam region in the 17th and 18th centuries through the spatial shape and meaning of 「Hahwaesipyukgyeong(河隈十六景)」 and 「Hahoegugok(河回九曲)」. The two works are literary embodiments of the Hahoe area through dots and lines, respectively, and are representative works that give various meanings to the Hahoe area. Moreover, these works not only embody Hahoe as a cultural space. It is noteworthy that it shows a series of efforts made by Yeongnam intellectuals in the 17th-18th century, especially Pungsan Ryu clan, to solve the problems faced by the time. Therefore, this paper analyzes 「Hahwaesipyukgyeong」 and 「Hahoegugok」 and examined how the two works construct the same space through different structural methods, and how Hahoe area appears in the actual contents of the work. 「Hahoegugok」 is a work that was greatly influenced by 「Hahwaesipyukgyeong」, as there is such an influence relationship, the two works show many similar appearances in shaping Hahoe. This paper examined this by dividing it into an interest in everyday space, an expression of excitement, and an ascetic and Taoistic space for ancestors. In addition, discussions were conducted by linking the meaning of these works with the social and cultural context of the Yeongnam region of the time. In a situation where Yeongnam's political alienation and the need to strengthen the position of Pungsan Ryu Clan are required, Pungsan Ryu Clan among Yeongnam intellectuals created such works to solve the problems of the time. It was examined that behind the work, there is a creative consciousness to expand family consciousness by implementing family consciousness and combining academic background.

본고는 「하외십육경(河隈十六景)」과 「하회구곡(河回九曲)」의 공간 형상과 의미를 통해 17-18세기 영남 지역의 사회․문화적 일경향을 이해해보고자 시도되었다. 두 작품은 각각 점과 선을 통해 하회 일대를 문학적으로 형상화한 것으로, 하회 일대에 다양한 의미를 부여한 대표적인 작품이다. 더욱이 이 작품들은 하회를 하나의 문화공간으로 형상화할 뿐만 아니라, 17-18세기의 영남 지식인, 그 중에서도 풍산 류씨들이 당대에 직면한 문제를 해결하기 위해 행했던 일련의 노력을 잘 보여준다는 점에서 주목할 만하다. 이에 본고에서는 「하외십육경」과 「하회구곡」을 분석하여, 두 작품이 같은 공간을 다른 구조 방식을 통해 구성해나가고 있으며, 실제 작품의 내용에서 하회 일대가 어떻게 나타나고 있는가에 대해 살펴보았다. 「하회구곡」은 「하외십육경」으로부터 많은 영향을 받은 작품이며, 이러한 영향관계가 있는 만큼 두 작품은 하회를 형상화함에 있어 유사한 모습이 많이 나타나고 있었다. 본고는 이를 크게 일상공간에 대한 관심과 흥취 표출, 선조에 대한 존숭과 도학적 공간으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 그리고 이러한 작품의 의미를 당대 영남지역의 사회․문화적 맥락과 연결시켜 논의를 전개하였다. 영남의 정치적 소외와 풍산 류씨의 입지 강화의 필요성이 요구되는 상황 속에서 영남 지식인 그 중에서도 풍산 류씨들이 당대의 문제를 해결하기 위해 이러한 작품을 창작하게 되었으며, 그 작품의 이면에는 가문의식을 구현하고 또 학맥을 결합시킴으로써 가문의식을 확장하려는 작가의 창작의식이 작용하고 있음을 살펴보았다.
