This paper is informed by the study that examined land use conflicts and migration as survival mechanism on Maasai livelihood in Tanzania. The main objective was to explore the adaptation strategy used in response to land use conflicts on Maasai pastoralist. A sample of 270 respondents were involved and obtained through snowball technique. Findings show that the government development activities such as creation of national parks and game reserves, construction of big tourist hotels, and invasion of crop cultivators, resulted in land use conflicts in Maasai land. To relieve the situation, the Maasai people migrated with livestock to places with pasture and water where women started beadwork activities in which goods such as traditional medicine, beaded jewelry; earrings, tobacco and beads were made and sold. Some women migrated to cities and urban centres to extend such businesses. The study recommends that the government increase more efforts to resolve land use conflicts to make the population resilient to changes in both development plans and climate change impacts, to consider petty traders as an important informal sector and necessary self-initiative groups that produce incomes. Maasai need to improve the quality of their goods to attract more customers and increase income, to achieve such ends, interventions of entrepreneur training for petty traders are paramount.
