Depression and anxiety can result in debilitating consequences for children and adolescents. However, screening tools for depression and anxiety disorders are scarce in developing countries like Brazil. Thus, the purpose of this study was to cross-culturally adapt the Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale to Brazilian Portuguese and examine its psychometric properties among a non-clinical population of Brazilian children and adolescents. We rigorously cross-culturally adapted the RCADS to measure Brazilian children and adolescents while maintaining equivalence to its original English version. Eight to 18-yearold children and adolescents participated in the psychometric assessment of the instrument. The Brazilian Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale positively correlated to other measures of depression and anxiety; test-retest reliability was excellent, and Cronbach’s alphas for all subscales were adequate. A CFA supported the six-factor structure of the instrument. This study supports the psychometric properties of the Brazilian Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale in the assessment of anxiety and depression of Brazilian children and adolescents.
