In this paper, we consider a group-arrival group-service single-server queue, where customers arrive in groups, get served, and leave, group by group. We consider, in particular, what we call the “Largest Group First (LGF)” priority rule. Under a certain condition, we show that the expected waiting time of an individual customer of a group under LGF is always less than its FIFO (First In First Out) counterpart and that the system under LGF can earn more profit than the same under FIFO by giving priorities to larger groups while giving discounts to smaller groups. This is demonstrated with a numerical example.
