Report Errors
War has been a relatively less critical issue in the theories and movement. However, major theorists and activists of the left have dealt with wars, which have had diverse and significant impacts on the theories and movements of the left at the national and international levels.
Since the 19th century, in various political and military conjuncture, the positions of the left have been proposed from the perspective of class struggle and revolution. However, contrary to the hopes of left theorists, it was proved that war was neither progressive nor with no democratizing effect.
Wars have proved to be the worst way of carrying out a revolution, because of the enormous cost in human lives ad the destruction of productive forces. Therefore, war is not "the continuation of politics by other means", but certifies the failure of politics. Thus, if the left wishes to make a progressive contribution to historical development, they should be opposed to militarism and war.
