The purpose of this study is to analyze the current status of educational support for North Korean defector college students, to find ways to support education in the future, and to provide them as basic data for the education of North Korean defector students. Currently, various educational support such as career support, leader development, global talent development, and economic support are being provided. However, compared to 2010, the number of college students who defected from North Korea increased 98%, and the dropout rate of elementary, middle and high school students decreased over the past 10 years, but the dropout rate of North Korean college students was about 75% higher than that of general college students. In addition, they were experiencing difficulties such as difficulties in adapting to school due to differences in the education system between the two Koreas, economic difficulties, difficulties in friendships, lack of basic academic ability due to academic deficits, and weakness in other social support systems. Therefore, it seems very important to have a continuous organic relationship, identify problems and reflect feedback, and use a program to prepare for college life. In addition, Future research is suggested, such as successful cases of North Korean defector college students settling in society, and how the results of the gap between university education and employment over the past 10 years have been systematically reflected.
본 연구는 탈북 대학생의 교육 지원 현황을 분석하여 향후 교육 지원 방안을 모색하고 이를 탈북 학생 교육을 위한 기초자료로 제공하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 현재 진로지원, 리더육성, 글로벌 인재양성, 경제적 지원 등의 다양한 교육지원이 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 2010년과 비교하여 북한이탈 대학생 수가 98% 증가하였고, 최근 10년간 초, 중, 고등학생의 중도탈락은 감소하였으나, 탈북 대학생의 중도탈락 비율이 일반대학생에 비해 75% 정도 높았다. 또한, 남북한 교육제도의 차이에 따른 학업 적응의 어려움, 경제적 어려움, 교우관계 어려움, 학업 결손에 따른 기초학업능력 부족, 기타 사회적 지지 체계 연약 등의 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 이에 지속적인 유기관계를 가지고 문제점을 파악하고, 그 내용을 반영할 수 있는 제도적 장치와 대학생활에 대비하는 프로그램의 활용이 매우 중요해 보인다. 아울러 탈북 대학생의 사회정착 성공 사례, 지난 10년간의 대학교육과 취업간의 간극의 결과가 제도적으로 어떻게 반영되었는지 등의 추후 관련 연구에 대해 제언한다.
