Based on the current status of Japanese(language) related departments at Korean universities in 2021 and the main focus of the 2022 revised curriculum and secondary teacher training system development plan, the present status of the educational process of Japanese language education department and Japanese language teaching profession related department was checked.
In 2021, there are 35 schools and 37 departments related teaching profession among 71 schools and 80 departments(majors) related to Japanese(language) at four-year universities in Korea.
As a result of the analysis of education-related subjects to develop professionalism as a Japanese language teacher in 37 departments(majors), 58.1% of the departments(majors) related to the completion of the teaching profession do not meet the number of subjects required for the teacher qualification examination.
However, by utilizing the relatively even distribution of Japanology studies-related subjects and improving the educational content, media, and teaching methods of basic subjects, it is judged to be able to reflect the needs of pre-service teachers of department(major) related the teaching profession as well as the convergence competency strongly required by the 2022 revised curriculum.
