The main duties of the professor in university are teaching, research, and volunteer service(community service). Among these duties, teaching is standing oust as an issue for enhancing "the quality of university education" according to the sharp change like the Fourth Industrial Revolution and decrease of the school age population. For survival of universities, professors should escape from traditional teaching method and it is emphasizing the importance of the teaching competency.
In this context, evaluation of the teaching competency is necessary to improve quality of education. Regarding teaching competency, the result of evaluation learner recognize can be utilized as basic information of university education program, and the result of evaluation professor recognize helps improve teaching activities and have positive effects which enables smooth communication with learners.
Therefore, this study aimed to derive implications by comparing and analyzing teaching competency between professors and cadets at KAAY. To achieve aim of the study, this study proceeded in three steps. First step was literature review for teaching competency theory, accredited measurement tool for teaching competency, and Bachelor"s program at KAAY. Second step was to measure teaching competency awareness using ‘Teaching Competency’ scale targeting professors and cadets at KAAY. Third step was to derive implications from the result through t-test, ANOVA.
The result of this study is as follows. First, the difference of teaching competency awareness existed according to age and rank in professors" demographic factors. Second, the difference of teaching competency awareness existed according to academic year, grade, and major in cadets" demographic factors. Lastly, the result analyzing differences of teaching competency between professors and cadets showed that the difference existed in lecture preparations area, lecture progress area, and lecture arrangement area.
This study presents to improve the quality of education of military academy by offer direction for enhancing teaching competency to professors. Therefore, this study could be the trigger enhancing "the quality of education" of military academy.
