Abstract Two Types of Fundamental Theology of Mission in view of Missional Hermeneutics Shin, Kyung Kyu (Kosin University) One of the main hermeneutical view points to see the whole bible is ‘mission’. Missional hermeneutics is a work to see the whole Bible with the view of mission. Through the missional hermeneutics we can find one of the main intentions of the bible is mission, and, in addition to that, how every part of the Bible is connected with each other and how it explains ‘mission’. One of the biblically focal and foundational text can be seen in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 24, verses 44-48. It shows two main contents and foundations of the subjects of the Bible as Jesus Christ and Mission, which, hermeneutically speaking, can be mentioned as messianic perspective and mission one. Therefore, according to this biblical text, we can find the possibility of missional hermeneutics. Recently, George R. Hunsberger classified four types of missional hermeneutics in th Network News of GOCN (The Gospel and Our Culture): (1) Missional Direction of the Strory (Christopher Wright), (2) Missional Purpose of the Writings (Darrel Guder, Michael Goheen), (3) Missional Locatedness of the Readers (Michael Baram), (4) Missional Engagement of the Cultures (James Brownson). It is a very important task to see the bible with the view of mission, because it is the performance of the word of resurrected Jesus Christ, and also it is to find out the missionary subjects and messages in the Old Testaments as well as those in the New Testaments. Missional hermeneutics of the Bible and that of Cultures are folding each other, and that is because ‘the eternal word of God’ is constantly being interpreted in the contexts of ‘changing world’ of human beings. Therefore, ‘redemptive theology’ and ‘theology of kingdom of God’ are two foundational theologies according to the classification of Donald McGavran in his analysis of contemporary evangelical mission theology. ‘Redemptive theology’ stresses the salvation of human beings from their sins, which Jesus Christ performed his redemptive work in the cross and in his resurrection, and it also stresses the importance of spreading the Gospel all through the world. However, one representative error of it appears in the theology of Uppsala WCC assembly. Theology of Uppsala excessively stressed humanization instead of eternal salvation from the sin performed in Jesus Christ. Theology of Kingdom of God is targeting to seek enlarging the reign of God to all of the world and to all of the areas of human beings. It is pursuing God’s reign to individuals, families, nations and all the areas of human activities. Significant errors, however, appear in the theology of Bang Kok CWME, ‘Salvation Today’. It unfairly stressed today’s salvation setting aside of eternal salvation in Jesus Christ. Another error appears in the theology of contemporary ‘new demonology’, which also discriminatingly stresses present Kingdom of God in this world instead of futuristic one. Therefore, we need to have balanced stance in pursuing missional hermeneutics in between the salvation of human beings and enlarging the Kingdom of God.
