Hjelmslev’s glossematical project proposing algebraic rigor gave a title of autonomous science to linguistics in relation to other disciplines such as philosophy among others and also its authentic object. However in the ironic side, his theory of language would not give significant allocation in linguistics after his death but it’s rather semiotics whose object goes out to the «non-linguistic sign» that its theoretical inspiration bloomed. Is his glossematics not made for a strict theory appropriated to natural language? Is there an epistemological coherence between the linguistics and the semiotics? We propose in this research observing what Hjelmslevian contributions attributed to modern semiotics with a critical point of view and demonstrating in what respect modern semiotics could not have them as epistemological basis.
