While the recent rise in the cultural level and cultural distribution has led to various cultural performances and events in agricultural regions, cultural spaces to accommodate them are absolutely limited. So the central and local governments try to use NACF warehouses, the use of which is on the gradual decrease in agricultural regions, as cultural spaces. However, they have lots of difficulties from the stage of design in remodeling NACF warehouses because of absolutely limited data from the research on acoustic performance and from the analysis of the actual state of the warehouses in South Korea. This study aimed to investigate the actual state of 29 NACF warehouses in North Jeolla Province to identify their specifications and use acoustic simulation to stereotype their acoustic performance. Acoustic performance was measured in the three stereotyped NACF warehouses to assess and analyze acoustic performance of the NACF warehouses under the present condition. All of the three warehouses were found to have too many acoustic defects to be used as multi-purpose cultural spaces because they failed to secure proper reverberation or definition, excepting the sound pressure level. To use NACF warehouses as multi-purpose cultural spaces, therefore, it is necessary to use acoustic simulation and change the inner space of the warehouses to meet the requirements for multi-purpose cultural spaces and to select good finished materials with the aim of obtaining the optimal reverberation and definition.
