As rapid urbanization and industrialization intensify environmental degradation in modern-day society, people are making efforts to realize sustainability with a view to ensuring partnered development of ecosystem and industry. Sustainable development is exerting influence on economy, society, and culture for harmonious coexistence and development of current and future generations. Accordingly, emphasis is placed on ESD (Education for Sustainable Development), which focuses on enhancing the awareness of the proprietorship of students as future leaders and promoting flexible behaviors that reflect social changes as well as ensuring a harmonious life for current and future generations by improving future-oriented thinking. In this light, I am going to provide a plan for a sustainable design program that matches the purpose of ensuring sustainable development in art education. Such it could be used in a wide range of practical applications such as art education and environmental education. As far as scope of education is concerned, the ta sustainable design program can perform its role for education program of sustainability that provides guidance and support for individuals, communities, educators, and institutions. The education of sustainability can be applied in appropriate stages, not only by way of raising awareness, applying theories, or taking action with regard to sustainability, but also through multidimensional approaches. In this regard, this study analyzes the existing domestic and international sustainability and then will propose a sustainable design program for art education that can present possibilities in sustainable education.
