In recent, multi-cultural families were on the increase. It was reported that a lot of these families suffered from disability of son or daughter. But the present conditions were not known of child with disability in multi-cultural families and supporting systems for them were not established yet. This study was intended to pull the difficulties and supporting needs of multi-cultural families having child with disability out, and suggest the solutions to these. To drag out the common difficulties and supporting needs of them, the semi-structured interviews of 7 multi-cultural mothers having child with disability were implemented. The results of interview contents analysis were as followed. First, multi-cultural mothers having child with disability was married without the understanding Korean language and culture. She gave birth to baby, and knew the child get problems. According to disability identification, child of her own got service in specialized or inclusive child care and education center. Second, present conditions were coexisted the positive aspect as receiving the adequate therapies and education support and negative aspect as child-raising stress etc. Third, the social-cultural maladaptation and difficulties of raising the child with disability were major appeals, and required various supports to solve these affairs. Fourth, in spite of these double troubles, she spoke the hope for her and child in future. Based on these results, discussions were suggested to improve the troubles of multi-cultural families.

다문화 가정이 증가하고 있는 상황에서 이러한 가정 내 장애 자녀의 문제는 다문화 가정이 겪고 있는 또 하나의 어려움이며, 이에 대한 정확한 현황 파악 및 지원체계가 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구는 장애 자녀를 양육하는 다문화가정 어려움의 시작점인 취학 전기 장애 자녀를 둔 가정을 중심으로, 장애 자녀 양육경험을 통한 다문화 가정의 어려움과 필요한 지원요구를 도출하여 해결 방안을 제시하는 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 연구 대상자는 장애 유아가 있는 다문화 가정의 공통적인 어려움과 지원요구를 도출하고자 장애 자녀를 어린이집에 보내고 있는 다문화 가정의 어머니 7명에 대한 반구조화된 면담을 통한 질적 연구방법을 시행하였다. 면담 내용에 대한 내용 분석 결과 주요 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국 언어와 문화에 대한 이해가 부족한 상황에서 결혼을 하게 되었고, 자녀를 출산하고 자녀의 장애 발견과 진단을 거쳐서 장애 관련 어린이집에 오게 되었다고 하였다. 둘째, 자녀의 장애에 대처하는 현재의 상황들은 장애 관련 치료와 교육지원을 받는 등의 긍정적인 측면과 양육 스트레스 등의 부정적인 측면이 공존하고 있었다. 셋째, 이 배경에는 다문화로 인한 사회 문화적 적응의 어려움과 자녀의 장애로 인한 어려움이 깔려 있었고 이를 해결하기 위한 다양한 지원들을 요구하였다. 넷째, 사회문화 적응과 장애 자녀 양육이라는 이중적 어려움에도 불구하고 자녀와 자신에 대한 미래의 희망도 피력하였다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 장애 다문화 가정의 어려움을 개선하고 지원요구를 반영할 수 있는 방안들이 논의로 제기되었다.
