This study analyzed the dilemma of the church located in the backwoods region, by using a qualitative research method. It is aimed to establish a practical strategy to support the churches in backwoods. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, the researcher had in-depth interviews and FGIs with pastors and the congregation in the churches. In this process, the researcher was able to learn what the dilemma they experienced and the internal story of the pastors and the congregation in backwoods churches. This is a part of the research approaches to make differentiation from previous researches. Most of the previous studies adopted theoretical approaches, but this study took a different approach, focusing on the field. The dilemmas of backwoods churches identified as results of the research are as follows: Children’s education issues, Burnout of pastors, financial difficulties, lack of expertise, diffi culty in building a ministry road map, confusion of identity of pastors.
