The reexamination of major remains from the early Iron Age ∼ early proto-three kingdom period in the eastern Jeonnam region showed that Songgukri type post culture lasted for a considerable period of time while the clay stripe pottery culture was introduced intermittently. It is possible to assume that the early-stage clay stripe pottery culture was introduced sporadically in the eastern Jeonnam region and that there were phases that involved the late-stage triangular rim pottery and the Songgukri type culture. In this light, this could be the clue for elucidating the blank period in the early Iron Age ∼ early proto-three kingdom culture. The upper limit of the paddling patterned pottery in the eastern Jeonnam region matches the extinction of the patternless pottery. It appears that the use of patternless pottery and hard patternless pottery extended and the inflow of paddling patterned pottery was delayed in the eastern Honam region as it was the marginal area in terms of cultural development, compared with other regions. According to radio carbon dating, there are dolmens that goes as far back as before and after Christ and as the dolmens built in later years often have relics, it is possible to calculate the period when they coexisted with pit burial. It appears that dolmen and pit burial had shifted to pit burial into the second century through a gradual transition period (2 B.C.∼1 A.D.) instead of a sudden change.
