Research on Korean modern documents is generally recognized to be affected by Japan. Since Japanese modern documents were formed in the Meiji era, Korean modern documents might be created by referencing to the era. Japan established the modern document system based on the ancient statute. The Japanese ancient statute was adapted to the real condition of Japan, by referencing to that of Tang Dynasty of China. In other words, the statue originated in China affected Japan and was adapted to the modern system, and in turn affected the Korean modern documents. Meanwhile, the Chinese statute also affected some periods in the Korean history, especially the era from the unified Shilla dynasty to the period of Mongolian invasion to Goryeo. Then, the documents for appointment, affected by the institutions of Mongol were succeeded up to the Joseon dynasty. By the modern times, however, they were again affected by the Japanese document forms. This paper elucidated that Seon(宣), one of a monarch's 의지 in the Tang dynasty of China had effects on not only document forms in China, but also those in Korea and Japan. In particular, Seon(宣) appearing in the Korean modern documents was found to be based on 「Saryeongsic(辭令式)」, the form of documents, created during Meiji(明治) 19(1886) in Japan. This study examined the ancient statue from the holistic perspective, but individual discussions on other statues seem to be warranted.
