The novel "The Reader" contains the Love between Hanna, the helper of the Holocaust, and Michael, and their desire, betrayal, regret, and duty. This essay analyzes Hanna, Michael, and Holocaust-related persons, such as German postwar generations and slaughtered Jews, from the viewpoint of shame. And in Hanna's transform from one shame to another shame, we analyze the semantic associations that freedeath could have been the end point. The shame is a complex concept and has various semantic associations. This essay begins with the shame of the naked body who is conscious of the other's gaze, and goes on to the shame by social norm, the shame on others, lastly the autonomos shame. And three basic forms of shame are presented. There is a Paradox in the operation of shame. To feel shame, on the one hand a person has to distance himself from himself, on the other hand self-integration is required, subject and object to identify. As a result, shame is not a temporary feeling for an event like anger, disgust, etc. In addition, It is an emotion that feels the voice of one's inner self that can not be denied. In this sense, shame is associated with the whole being of an person
