Recently, policies and activities related to cultural heritage in North Korea are very active both internally and externally. North Korea places great importance on the succession of national culture from the moment of its founding to the establishment of a unique leadership system and the flow of the three generations hereditary systems. First, the formation of discourse on cultural heritage in the early days of the North Korean regime emerged as a mixture of Soviet Marxist-Leninism adoption and strong nationalism within North Korea. This hybridity implies that the North Korean regime needed to secure a continuous historicality from national culture, even for the legitimacy of the new regime from the Japanese colonial rule, and for the consolidation of the revolutionary history and hereditary governance system. After that, cultural heritage emerged as an important policy in the process of rebuilding the country that was burned down to 6.25 and building a new socialist country. In particular, the emphasis on national culture in North Korea passed through the Juche idea and gradually combined with the consolidation of the ruling system, and as the Kim Jong-il regime opened the barriers through the national firstism rule and entered the Kim Jong-un era, it reached a stage of institutionalization. In recent years, socialist countries including North Korea have emerged as policies to link cultural heritage with the tourism industry, so it is worth paying attention to what changes will occur in the future.
