After the Cultural Revolution, history education in China changed from a class-struggle centered to a reinforcement of national integration, which is based on patriotism. This is shown through a Chinese-centered narration in history textbooks, and it became systematized with an establishment of Unificative Multiracial State in 1990s. Government-lead historical projects, such as Northeast Asia Project, was a peak of reinterpretation of history in the perspectives of China, and the results were actively reflected in the curriculum and textbooks. 『Compulsory Education Textbook Chinese History』(Yanbian Education Press), newly published in 2016, is a revised edition in 10 years and is nation’s only government-authorized textbook that was issued with political change that occurred in 30 years. Returning to such system can be interpreted as a willingness to further reinforce the implantation of government- led ideologies. In fact, the contents of textbooks are more specific and systematized in the logic of national integration and the logic of national history. In this paper, the contents of the new textbooks, especially on the parts about Korean ancient history, were analyzed through comparing and contrasting with the previous editions of textbooks. The new textbook, focusing on political history, introduces detailed accounts of the rise and fall of various dynasties by adding a storytelling element to a chronology. The emphasis that minorities, through the influence of superior Chinese civilization, have become sinicized and as a result, formed a ‘one family’ today, shows an effort to strengthen the national integration. Since the 1990s, the parts on Korean history has remained as a mere fragmentary arrangement, and its importance has been declining sharply. Even the Tang-Silla relationship, which had been covered as main subject matter, was completely excluded from this textbook. All parts that described Korea as a neighboring country, which maintained a various political and cultural relationship, have been deleted, and instead, Korea is only mentioned as a target of passive exchange. And according to the map attached in this text, Korean Peninsula is marked as Chinese territory since the Spring and Autumn period. Because it is a great concern that distorted alterations and reduction of history instill a false perception about Korean history, it needs to be improved.
