This study analyzes the use of the honorific expressions O(Go)～nasaru and O(Go)～naru —in the minutes of the Diet Conference Proceedings. Comparison of the use of O(Go)～nasaru and O(Go)～naru showed that O(Go)～naru was used approximately 80% more often starting from the 1940s until the 2010s. This result confirms that O(Go)～naru was used at a high rate. The average numbers of remarks for both O(Go)～nasaru and O(Go) ～naru were examined based on their use among people from various age groups, showing that O(Go)～nasaru remained in use at almost the same rate from the 1940s to the 2010s. However, the use of O(Go)～naru increased sharply in the 1950s and gradually decreased after the 1980s. The author conducted a search for clitics often used with O(Go)～nasaru and O(Go)～naru, but O(Go)～nasaru is a Chinese s-irregular verb and O(Go). The results indicate a tendency for ‘to become’ to often be used in co-occurrence with Japanese verbs. Significant differences were not noted in the average number of remarks between O(Go)～naru in the 1940s and 2010s, and many of them shared frequently used clitics. Therefore, this expression can be considered to have remained unchanged over approximately 80 years. However, examining the details of their use in each age group shows that in the 1940s, O(Go)～naru was used at a rate of 90% or more; however, in the 2010s, O(Go)～naru was primarily used. The results show that the use of O(Go)～naru is predominant. Accordingly, the use of O(Go)～naru between the 1940s and 2010s in the minutes of the Diet Conference Proceedings cannot be considered unchanging.
