Diabetes mellitus is a disease caused by the secretion of insulin, a hormone regulates blood glucose. Prolonged consumption of antidiabetic drugs may lead to undesired side effects. Therefore, formulation of plant based medicines is a good strategy. The enzyme inhibitory property of Coccinia grandis (C. grandis) during different stages of fruit ripening are yet to be reported. Hence, C. grandis was classified into immature, mature and ripen fruits, and the inhibitory activities of α-amylase and α-glucosidase were determined.
