This is a study to compare the noble NOWAKI of Soseki Natume and the criticism of Tokoku Kitamura. It is said that Soseki described him as hero Doya in NOWAKI. But the idea of Doya is so idealistic and it is difficult to understand the meaning of concepts of his words in NOWAKI. It is very different from the another normal idea of novels in Soseki. Doya believes that the value of man is the spirit and the spiritual value makes character of man. Doya thinks that the substance of ideal is the spirit and ideals must be sprung by oneself and the person who can not use freedom for the ideal purpose does not fulfil his responsibility. So Doya writes literatures to keep his character. On the other hand the meaning of ideal of Tokoku is also the value of spirit. So Tokoku thinks that man must search for the ideal purpose using his freedom of spirit which he has from his birth. Tokoku also wrote his literatures to keep his idealism of spirit suffering from the actuality in this world. We can find common ideas between the idea of Doya and Tokoku. So we can guess that the model of Doya is not Soseki but Tokoku Kitamura.
