To this day, there has been no research done on Joseon in Shiga Naoya's literature in Korea. It must be thought about Shiga's description of Joseon and its meaning. Shiga had never visited Korea. Therefore, He he had never experienced Ondol, a floor heating system in Korea that has been used for hundreds of years. However, <Undecided manuscripts 163~164> explain in detail the functions and effectiveness of Ondol. The description shows that he respected the Korean culture. He also expressed opinions on history education. Also in <Undecided manuscripts 163~164>, the main character who was dispatched to Joseon as a teacher is distressed by the fact that he has to teach with a "not true" history book written by the Japanese government. In the episode of Min Deok-won in 『A Dark Night's Passing』, Shiga criticizes the Japanese public servants who do not take responsibility for the land issue in Korea. Min Deokwon was treated as a traitor by the Joseon side and used by the Japanese side and abandoned. Right after the Great East Japan Earthquake, Koreans were killed in a false rumor. In Shiga's「An inquiry after a disaster, Diary」, the savagery of the murderers are recorded in chronological order. The「An inquiry after a disaster, Diary」vividly shows the frivolous and cruel Japanese wandering around in search of the Joseon people who will become victims. Accordingly, through Shiga's literature of the 1920s, his recognition of Joseon during the Japanese colonial period, can be understood.
