Disruption of the endocrine system can result in various developmental, reproductive, neurological, immune and metabolic diseases. Over the past years, an increasing number of ubiquitous chemicals have been identified to have endocrine disrupting properties to which humans and wildlife are consequently exposed. In which, octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) is found in the manufacture of detergent products, polishes and waxes, cosmetics, and personal care products.
