Digital free labor is one of the first things that comes to mind when exploring objects that are exploited in the digital media age. In order to delve deeper into the topic of digital free labor, this paper first introduces theoretical discussions and critical perspectives that explain digital free labor. Next, the paper examines the factors that constitute digital free labor and how digital free labor has evolved. Finally, the paper discusses possible solutions to the ever-strengthening exploitation system that capital has set up using digital free labor. In order to have a theoretical discussion about digital free labor, this paper refers to the audience commodity theory, the concept of immaterial labor, and the prosumer theory. Furthermore, the paper comments on whether these theories widen the scope of exploitation or creates the drive necessary for revolution. Currently, the exploitation of digital free labor is evolving and intensifying due to promotion struggles, and the development of advanced technologies only reinforces such exploitation. Basing itself on realistic diagnoses and prospects, this paper discusses means that can be used to defeat the intensification of capital’s exploitation system.
