Antibiotics liberated humans from infectious diseases, but their abuse caused the emergence of resistant strains. Therefore, natural antimicrobial substances with absent of side effects were required, and among various antibiotics substitute materials, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) without problems of residual in the body and resistant strains attracted attention. AMPs reported as self-protecting materials produced by various organisms from microorganisms to humans, and are crucial defense molecules of the innate immune system. In addition, AMPs have rapid antimicrobial activity and broad antimicrobial spectrum against diverse pathogenic bacteria. AMPs have been reported to have multi-functions such as antiphrastic, antifungal, antiviral, and antitumor activities. Therefore, in order to secure multi-functional AMPs and analyze their characteristics, a study was conducted with two strategies. The first tactic is an activity based purification method, and the second strategy is sequence and structure based method derived from genome information. AMPs derived from hard-shelled mussel (Mytilus coruscus) were developed through an activity-based method, and showed broad antimicrobial spectrum against various pathogenic bacteria such as fish pathogens, foo ... 전체 초록 보기
