The traditional arrangement of Treatise on Five Agents(Wuxing zhi, 五行志) located between Astronomy(Tianwen zhi, 天文志) and Administrative geography(Dili zhi, 地理志) in Official Dynastic Histories(zhengshi, 正史) can be said to be the influence of the perception that the five elements play a role in mediating astronomy and humanities between astronomy and geography. However, unlike this, there are cases where they were placed behind Astronomy and Administrative geography, coincidentally, such as Nanqishu(南齊書) and Weishu(魏書) compiled at the same time. The interpretation of this may be diverse, but the movement to clearly distinguish the roles of the astronomical and the five elements compared to the later period is that the space of the five elements, which is intended to be explained by linking natural phenomena and human history, has been further expanded and an independent space is embedded. “Weishu, Lingzheng-zhi(靈徵志)” is the representative work of this.
