Currently, most of extracts extracted from natural products are being used as additives of cosmetic products for reducing symptom like facial aging and wrinkle disease. This study is to estimate the anti-wrinkle activity for the purified extract from Isatidis Folium for manufacturing a novel anti-wrinkle cream product and to develop the analytical method for quality control of the cream products. In results, it demonstrated that this purified the extract with the excellent anti-wrinkle activity by significantly inhibiting mRNA expression of MMP-1, MMP-3, and pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and up-regulating the mRNA expression of IL-4 and procollagen.
