Peach is one of the climacteric fruits sensitive to ethylene. Ethylene promotes changes in cellular metabolism by controlling the softening of peach fruits. In this study, in order to extend the shelf life of peach fruits through inhibiting ethylene generation and activation, 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) and aminothoxyvinylglycine (AVG) were treated in fruits to analyze expression of ethylene-pathway related genes in nectarine cultivar, ‘Kum Hong’. There was inhibition of ethylene generation and maintenance of hardness in fruits treated with 1-MCP (240 ppm) and AVG (75 ppm) compared to controls.
