In traditional Korean medicine, root bark of Dictamnus dasycarpus Turcz. has been used as a treatment of inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and pruritus. However, the possibility as a psoriasis treatment has not been studied whether a methanol extract of Dictamnus dasycarpus Turcz. root bark (MEDD) can be used as a therapeutic agent for psoriasis, imiquimod (IMQ) as applied to the mice. With the IMQ inducement, mice were daily treated with MEDD or vehicle. The mice that treated IMQ with MEDD shows alleviation of scaly skin phenotype, immune cell infiltration in the dermis, and epidermal hyperplasia and less severe skin phenotypes in the lesion-affected area compared to the mice that treated IMQ with vehicle.
