The purpose of the study was to find out what Koreans think about reservations and no-shows in the restaurant business. We also looked at how individuals perceive time in order to give it meaning as a basic research material to prepare fundamental measures to reduce no-shows. According to an online survey of 193 Koreans, customers wanted to pay a minimum penalty fee to prevent no-show and restaurants wanted to prepare a device to minimize financial damage. To prevent no-shows, people preferred to contact by SMS or phone one week or three days before the reservation date. As a result of the reservation intention depending on the consumer’s time recognition, a monochronic time cluster preferred group found that the intention of reservation was higher (p<.05) than the polychronic time cluster. Through this approach, restaurants must consider a customization method that can enable each individual to personalize their experience according to the different intentions to use the reservation system. Furthermore, it is necessary to take a different approach to no-shows depending on the individual’s time perception. Limitations and future research directions are also discussed.
