This is to investigate the roles and the proper attitudes of the `enlightened` and the `ordinary` men(君子 and 小人) from the Book of Mencius. We came to the conclusions as following: 1. The `enlighteded men` guarantee and protect the technological activities of the ordinary men, but they do not set themselves in thsese activites.It is the way prescribed in the politics of `Kingly Way`(王道政治) 2. But it is rather frequent for a man to play an active role in the technological activities before he becomes an `enlightened man,` and these experiences are considered to have some positive effects in his playing the role of an `enlightened man` thereafter. 3. It is recommended for an ordinary man to have pride and to show sincerity in his technological activies, which make him a technology-specialist. 4. In the teaching and learning the technological activites (which is the role of the ordinary men), emphasis should be put on tools and the standard that comprise the essential part of technology, and the importance of the ethical aspects in practicing technology should be noted.
