This study is about the King’s gospel and missional discipleship in Matthew. The community of Matthew, which is the background of the book of Matthew in the Bible, was persecuted by Judaism as the Jewish and Gentile Christians lived together. However, according to Jesus' mission command to make disciples of all nations, they propagated the gospel not only to all the nations but also to the Jews. This shows that Jesus analogized the entire composition of the Gospel of Moses with the Pentateuch to testify that Jesus is the King and Messiah of David's lineage, which the Jews hoped and awaited. In addition, Matthew reveals the characteristics of the King’s gospel by favoring “Kingdom” over the kingdom of God to emphasize Jesus who came as a King. This is at the peak of the command of ‘the Great Commission’ because “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me” (28:18). This command shows that every ministry of Jesus, including healing and training of his followers, was eventually consolidated into a “missionary discipleship.”
