This study is to evaluate the preservation value of the Guryong village bamboo forest using the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM). CVM is the method to estimate the value of non-market goods. In order to measure the respondents" willingness to pay, the study employed Dichotomous choice instruments for answers of only ‘yes’ or ‘no’. The hypothetical bias arising from the CVM was minimized by reaffirmed the respondents" willingness to pay.
The direction of suggested expense was shown a negative, and it means that the larger the amount, the lower the willingness to pay. According to the analysis of willingness to pay truncated in a logic model, the economic value of the Guryong village bamboo forest was estimated at 19,888 won per person. Therefore, this study contributes to the literature by re-examining the ecological value of the bamboo forest. The results of this study can be used as basic reference to help determine the policy directions for the Guryong Village bamboo forest.
