This study analyzed the export competitiveness of automobile parts by major export countries, including Germany, Japan, Korea, and the United States, mainly in China with great potential in the automobile parts market. Based on this, it aimed to help Korea prepare for the future changes in the automobile parts industry by identifying the competitiveness of the current Korean automobile parts industry. Among automobile parts, 14 items under 6 digit HS code 8708 were studied, and export competitiveness was analyzed through Export Share, MCA, and IEB. The results of this study have confirmed that overall, the German competitive edge was overwhelmingly high in all the items in the Chinese market. Japan was less competitive than Germany, but in case of the 87084 and 870830 items, Japan had better or similar export competitiveness than Germany. And, Korea had a competitive edge in the items of 870880, and 870894, compared to other items, but were low in comparison with other rival countries. In addition, the export competitiveness of the Korean automobile parts industry in China is showing a downward trend in general. The United States showed the lowest share of most items compared to the other countries, but it gained higher export competitiveness in 870899, which had been Korea"s main item, than Korea, so that now it has the highest level of competitiveness in that item among all control subjects. In other words, Korea is less competitive than Germany and Japan in the Chinese market, but is also being pursued by the United States as well. Therefore, it can be said that it is very urgent to improve the export competitiveness of Korean automobile parts in the Chinese market while keeping pace with the growing size of the EV market.
