TV historical dramas have been produced steadily every year, despite the fact that they require a lot of physical and personal resources. TV historical dramas actively reflected what they considered to be in line with the public"s social and psychological desires in the components of dramas, with the most emphasis placed on characters.
The character of the TV historical drama has found that despite its various variations, its universal characteristics and methods of setting exist. This paper looked at the characters that appeared in the historical dramas Chuno, The Deep Rooted Tree, and The Moonlight Drawn by Clouds, which represent the 2010s.
First, It summoned a historical figure that matched the social status of the time when it was aired. Next, he created a fictional character that was more attractive to historical figures, placing importance on the interaction between them, and finally finding that characters form groups under common purpose or calling, leading to sharp conflicts with other groups.
Recently, many changes have occurred in the way characters are implemented in TV historical dramas due to changes in the audience and preferred genre. However, the universal method of characterization is not shunned by the current TV historical dramas, and is being derived or added.
Therefore, understanding how TV historical dramas can be used as a good tool to produce or appreciate TV historical dramas.
