The purpose of this paper is to consider ellipsis phenomena in Thai and to help Korean Thai learners learn Thai language effectively by grammatically explaining the ellipsis phenomena of Thai language. The ellipsis phenomena of Thai is divided into essential ellipsis and arbitrary ellipsis. Essential ellipsis are also called 'the ellipsis by structural change', and the feature of 'the ellipsis by structural change' is that omitting information is recoverable in the deep structure but not in the surface structure. Arbitrary ellipsis contains 'the ellipsis by vocabulary information', 'the ellipsis by contextual information' and 'the ellipsis by situational information'. In Thai language, ellipsis of these three types is shown, and omitted information appears in not only the deep structure but also the surface structure, which is a general feature of arbitrary ellipsis, and it is not an non- grammatical sentence or an awkward sentence which is a general feature of arbitrary ellipsis.
