The objective of the present study is to examine the effect of dance students' specialization level on their confidence in dance and interest in dance. Specifically, this study divided dance student specialization level into experience (participation, performance), attachment to dance, dance performance level, major-related academic achievement, etc., and analyzed how these variables affect the student. The subjects of this study were selected through quota sampling. That is, in June 2008, we selected 3 four-year universities from each of Seoul and Gyeonggi-do and visited each university at an appointed time and conducted a survey with enrolled student at the university. We sampled a total of 400 dance student, and excluding those who replied inadequately or unreliably, we used a total of 346 students in data analysis. Statistical analysis methods used in data processing were ANOVA, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. From these procedures and methods were drawn conclusions as follows. First, in the results of analyzing difference in specialization level according to personal characteristics, the specialization level was significantly affected by gender, school year, and average monthly household income. Second, in the results of analyzing difference in confidence in dance according to personal characteristics, confidence in dance was significantly affected by school year. Third, in the results of analyzing difference in interest in dance according to personal characteristics, interest in dance was significantly affected by major. Fourth, in the results of analyzing the effect of specialization level on confidence in dance, confidence in dance was significantly affected by dance performance level, attachment to dance, and academic achievement. Fifth, in the results of analyzing the effect of specialization levelon interest in dance, interest in dance was significantly affected by attachment to dance. That is, dance students' attachment to dance had a significant effect on their interest in dance.
