With the advent of new technology, the media content as well as format has been changed. Particularly, 6mm digital camera has contributed the birth of many life-information programs. But, these program shows lack of systematic and scientific approaches partly because producing staffs including program director and writer don’t understand the audience’s motivation and preference. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the preference factors in the materials used for life-information programs. Q Methodology which was invented to measure the human subjectivity was employed, and finally found 4 distinct factors: The first factor, the Social Issue and Problem-solving, who is interested in various social problems and solution, the second factor, the Bizarreness, who seeks fun through bizarre episodes and events, the third factor, the Hidden-Truth, who prefers the truth behind events usually famous people involved, and the final factor, the Wisdom-seeking, who tries to acquire the wisdom through other people’s lives. The preference factors found throughout this study has its usefulness since it suggests more concrete ideas and guidelines for this genre of program as well as provides evaluative tool.
