Directly after the liberation, leftists in Daegu formed mass organizations in fields representing political parties, workers, farmers, females and youths with the popular support. Particularly they, unlike most of those in other areas, recognized the importance of left-right cooperation and made an effort for left-right union in the process of founding the state. The movement had not stopped until the rise of general strike in September 1946. The left-right union, however, collapsed due to 'October People's Strife'. Besides most of the key figures of leftists were arrested or escaped, resulting in the collapse.Freeing themselves from the effect of 'October People's Strife', leftists restored the organization and began to work around February 1947. First of all they took an active part in campaign against the 'national general university project'. Afterwards the leftists, recognizing the success of U.S.A.-U.S.S.R joint committee is the only way to solve Chosun issue, developed the movement of founding interim democratic government through the success of it. They also started the movement against the exclusive election in South Korea. Such an election might cut the land in two, lead to national disunion and further to another colonization, they supposed. Before and after the South and North Korean Government Foundation, some of the leftists went to North Korea, and some to the mountains to start armed guerilla actions. Meanwhile, some of them joined the National Reporting Union. They were killed during the civil massacre right after the Korean War and had to conclude their difficult activity to fade away behind the history.
