This thesis aims to research the phase of Paeseul published from the 1910's to 1920's. Collections of Paeseul published in the 1910's moved toward two directions. The first groups were gathered stories existed the former period. These collections are Cheoldo Bakhwa, GaeGwon Heehee and Sochun Soji etc. These are characterized to the belly laugh by intellectuals in the gloomy world. And others are Angchun Daeso and Ggalggal Wusum. These collections were gathered stories of those days. In these, editors were cynically and aggressively smiled social irregularities. And collections of Paeseul published in the 1920's also moved toward two different directions. The first groups were Iksal Jumeoni and Iksal and Jaedam. These collections gathered mainly funny stories and partly criticizing social problems. And others are Paldo Jaedamjib, Gogum gidamjib and Sipsamdo Jaedamjib. These collections were just gathered yellow-covered stories. And in the 1930's, newspapers and magazines, especially the Ungteolidul, commercialized by casting funny characters.
