This assertion is a study on the spirit of prose creation of Woo-am, Song Siyeol(1607-1689) who was in an important position on a political and literary history in seventeenth century. He was a representative scholar of human nature and natured laws philosophy in seventeenth century, and was a man who wrote many literary works as you see his vast collection of works. He was very interested in literary works, so studied writings and human nature and natured laws philosophy at the same time from his boyhood. ꡔSongJaDaeJeonꡕ especially has been a well-founded material for telling what he was not only a scholar of human nature and natured laws philosophy. He recorded the actual facts based on the ꡔChunChuJiUiꡕ of Confucius on his works and upheld 'JeonUiJiBeop'; it is recorded if it is the believable fact, or it is not if it has not the evidence not to verify whether it is true. As studying on 「HamYangParkSsiJokBoSeo」 and 「SeonWonBoRyakBal」, ꡔChunChuꡕ of Confucius influenced to his writing attitude. He only recorded objective facts without exception even they were the achievements of the King. There are about five hundred epitaphs written by him which were asked by acquaintances. He always considered it as a first thing to record the truth in lives of the departed. He accepted the creative spirit and a sincere attitude from ‘ChunChuPilBeop’ of ꡔChunChuꡕ which evaluated people strictly. His writing attitude was consistent although the events related to the King. As a result his creative spirit was reflected in his epitaphs.
