The purpose of this paper is to analyze errors with the appearing and disappearing of heads in ‘adjunct+head’ modified structures. The Koreans make a lot of errors in ‘adjunct+head’ modified structures by missing the head when it is essential or adding it when it should be removed. Thus, this paper proposes an educational plan to prevent those errors by analyzing the error patterns and causes of appearing and disappearing heads from a syntactical and semantical view. First, from a syntactical view, it categorizes the ‘adjunct+head’ structure into compound and dependent patterns and sub-classifies each pattern. Second, from a semantical view, it categorizes the adjunct into determinative and descriptive patterns on the basis of grammatical feature and sub-classifies each pattern. Finally, it categorizes the causes of errors into three groups—meaning superabundance or lack, needs of nominalization, and mismatching predicate—and analyzes each error pattern.
