Abstract : The purpose of the study was to examine the effect of high school students’ perceived parentingattitude on career maturity and the moderating effects of self-directed learning ability on the relationshipbetween parenting attitude perceived by high school students and career maturity. The subjects were 369(167male, 202 female) students in 1st grade and 2nd grade of four high schools at M city in Jeonnam province. Theycompleted Perceived Parenting Behavior Inventory, Career Maturuty Inventory, Self-directed Learning AbilityQuestionnaire. Statistical analyses of data were frequency, mean, standard deviation, Pearson's correlationcoefficient, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. Cronbach's alpha was computed for thereliability of the scales. SPSSWIN 23.0 and AMOS 20.0 were used for data analysis. The results were as follows:First, high school students’ perceived parenting attitude had positive effects on career maturity. High schoolstudents who perceived their parents’ parenting attitude as affirmative (affectionate, autonomous, achievementoriented, reasonable) showed high career maturity. Second, high school students’ self-directed learning ability hadpositive effects on career maturity. High school students who had better self-directed learning ability showedhigh career maturity. Third, as a result of analyzing the moderating effects of self-directed learning ability on therelationship between parenting attitude perceived by high school students and career maturity, it was found thatthe interaction between parenting attitude perceived by high school students and self-directed learning abilityhad impact on career maturity.
